Journey

With this experience at hand, I took a bus to the Indian border and began a period of intense confusion. My first weeks in India were the most difficult days of my life. Thankfully I stayed with the experience until the light at the end of the tunnel began to shine. India (and Nepal) in many ways feels like the opposite of America. Whereas Americans value the material world so greatly and are quick to neglect spiritual matters, Indians value the spiritual world greatly and are quick to neglect material matters. This leads to Indians having much less materially, yet much more thankfulness for what they have. While neither way is in balance, my time in India was a fantastic journey to discover that part of me that was not nurtured at home.

Mother Teresa once said: “There is no greater sickness in the world today than the lack of love.”
