Journey

The preciousness of life was always easy to see, as with this little Burmese baby boy.

Upon returning to the States I never knew how to transmit my experiences to friends and family. I always tried intellectually, rationally, and verbally. And it never worked.

After studying psychology in graduate school, it was my work in crisis intervention that made everything “click” in me. When people are in crisis they are fully stuck in their thoughts. They act like a radio that gets stuck on one station with loud volume. Spiritual growth requires the exact opposite of this, to release the need to tune-in to our habitual thoughts and instead to just sit in the position of receptivity. And to support this, people need to come to the experience of the body. By listening to the body, we are freeing ourselves of having to listen to the chattering of the mind.

With this understanding I began my study of bodywork. I began with Swedish massage, but quickly realized that it was missing a key element- harmony! Harmony is the indication that we are in-tune with ourselves, with Life.

When I encountered Breema in Eugene, Oregon, my life made a major shift. No longer would I solely depend upon the verbal world to communicate with others.

One of the joys of traveling for me was the magical moments of travel when I’d meet a kind-hearted person who, without common language, would nonetheless transmit a welcoming atmosphere. This atmosphere is impossible to express verbally. It just feels like this person accepts me exactly for who I am. That they love me unconditionally, without knowing my name, my ideas, my work, my religion, my nation.

Love is the absence of fear. Love is our natural state of Being. True love is free of sentiments, free of emotional attachment.

Breema helps us find that place within us where love just flows. There we feel accepting of everyone and everything, without any desire to make change. There we feel connected to others deeply. Within a non-verbal context, our minds feel totally unthreatened, and we become more receptive to Life.

During my travels I fell in love with Life- I began to not fear it and instead appreciate and celebrate it. Now as a Breema Practitioner, I share that state of lovingness with everyone who walks through my door. Trusting my touch, my clients let go of the fears that hold their mind, body, and feelings captive.
